Parents,
The activities below will be the sparks that will help ignite your child's interest in science. These activities will teach him/her how science can be applied in everyday life. Please take some time to work with your child together on these. Thank You.
Activity # 1 - Science tools at home
Find two science tools at home, take pictures of them and bring them to school to share with the class.
Activity # 2 - Tape Measure Experiment
With a small and a big book on a floor that doesn’t have carpet, have your child give the big book a push and the little book push and determine how far each book went. Your child will measure the distances the books traveled and write them down. Then on a floor with carpet repeat the experiment. What did they learn? They will learn that the small book traveled farther on both floor surfaces. The bigger heavier book had more friction and didn’t go as far. Go over the answers and discuss with your child about the results.
Activity # 3 - Computer practice
Help your child write one paragraph report in Microsoft Word describing his/her favorite computer game or application.
Activity # 4 - Kid Science Premium App
Download the “Kid Science” Application to tablets or computers. Click on the button below to access the link to the application. Look for the "free version" half way through the page.
Activity # 5 - Exploring & Discovering - Kid Science App
On the application, go to the “feature experiment” option and execute it at home with your child. Have fun!!
